Shamier Bouie is a passionate and dedicated community advocate from Houston, Texas, who has spent her career championing social equity and empowerment. Her journey began with firsthand experience of the inequities in her community, motivating her to make a meaningful impact. Shamier earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Xavier University of Louisiana and has since worked with various nonprofit, corporate, and public affairs organizations, including the Institute of Women and Ethnic Studies, the Orleans Parish School Board, GE, and the Texas General Land Office.

She is a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), bringing expertise in digital accessibility and inclusion to her professional work.

Shamier’s dedication to empowering others extends to her personal endeavors. Early in her career, she, along with four colleagues, launched the New Orleans Black Professionals to connect and highlight Black professionals and businesses while providing valuable community resources. A year later, the organization launched Take a Professional to School Day, raising awareness about career paths and opportunities for New Orleans’ youth.

In Houston, Shamier has volunteered with organizations like the S.H.A.P.E. Community Center, LiteracyNow, and the Houston Food Bank. Additionally, she is a member of the Black Heritage Committee for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, raising money for scholarships for Black high school students and highlighting the contributions of African Americans in Western culture.

Shamier served as First Vice Chair of the Houston Black American Democrats (H-BAD) from 2021 to 2024, supporting the organization’s GOTV efforts before being elected Chair. For the past three years, she has also partnered with Kool Kidz Inc. to host their annual Turkey and Trimmings Giveaway, leading charitable events that provide critical support to families in need in the South Park area of Houston.

A former March of Dimes Spotlight on Success honoree, Shamier continues to advocate for progress and the underserved, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to building a more equitable and inclusive future for all.
