Dear H-BAD,
It is an honor to serve as Chair of the Houston Black American Democrats (H-BAD). Our organization was founded on a simple but powerful belief: when we come together, we create change that lasts. For decades, H-BAD has been a trusted voice in Houston’s Black community—fighting for equity, amplifying our voices, and building the political power needed to move our city forward.
At H-BAD, we are more than a political club—we are a family of advocates, organizers, and neighbors committed to making sure every vote is counted, every voice is heard, and every community is represented. From voter registration drives and candidate forums to grassroots mobilization and leadership development, we are intentional about creating spaces where people feel empowered to participate in the democratic process.
As Chair, my vision is rooted in service, inclusion, and accountability. Together, we will strengthen our presence in every corner of Houston, uplift the next generation of leaders, and continue to push for policies that reflect our values and priorities. None of this is possible without you—our members, partners, and community allies—who give your time, energy, and passion to this work.
I invite you to join us. Attend a meeting, volunteer at an event, or simply bring a friend into the fold. The future of our community depends on us showing up and standing together. With your support, H-BAD will continue to be a driving force for progress in Houston and beyond.
With gratitude and determination,
Shamier Bouie
Chair, Houston Black American Democrats
