Vision & Mission

Purpose

The Houston Black American Democrats has adopted the following purpose:

  • Stimulate in Black Americans an active interest in governmental affairs
  • Facilitate the participation of Black Americans in the Democratic Party
  • Perpetuate the ideals and principles of the Democratic Party
  • Provide education and keep Black American citizens abreast of current issues
  • Help acquaint voters and potential voters with candidates and relevant issues
  • Promote the highest degree of governmental response to public need
  • Promote and facilitate economic development as it impacts and interfaces with political participation in the Black American communities of Houston and Harris County
  • Perpetuate the ideals and principles of the Democratic Party
  • Provide political influence and visibility far beyond our numbers
  • Attract new members to H-BAD
  • Promote education and political advocacy of democratic ideals to young Black Americans
  • Act as an effective tool for voicing the needs, concerns, and expectations of the Black American community of Houston/Harris County and
  • Support those candidates and political initiatives that perpetuate the ideals of justice and social welfare
  • Provide education and keep Black American citizens abreast of current issues

Vision

H-BAD envisions a nation in which all people, from youth to seniors, have the tools to participate fully in the democratic process at the local, state, national and global levels. By continuing to lead the fight to eliminate barriers to civic participation, the H-BAD will promote greater social and economic justice to enhance the quality of African American life.
